Sandra Guibarelli (InveRoss Hockey Club) won this year's award due to her exceptional effort and service to the sport of Hockey in Inverness for many years, but also in the way she quietly does this behind the scenes. Too often people like Sandra do not even get noticed within their own clubs and sports. When you see something everyday for a long time, you tend not to notice it anymore, never mind appreciate it any longer – this is the case with Sandra’s infectious enthusiasm, reliability, and often hidden talents as a coach.

Sandra has been coaching hockey to Inverness Primary school children for the last 15 years, has run Inverness Juniors Hockey Club almost single handily at times, and still coaches every Saturday afternoon as an integral coach of that club. In addition, Sandra plays an important role for InveRoss Hockey Club over the last 5 years, where she is an integral member of the Youth Academy coaching team (Friday evenings), the clubs committee and development group, as well as the founder, captain, coach, fixture & match secretary for InveRoss senior women’s team playing in the North League (Aberdeen)(Tuesday evenings and weekend matches). She does this not only because she still enjoys playing, but because she recognises it is the only way for young girls to maintain to keep playing beyond the enthusiasm she instilled at primary school. In addition to all this she still finds time to support the social / veteran hospital league during the summer (Thursday evenings).
